DH60 Centenary Celebrations @ Shuttleworth
03rd August, 2025

Six LVG members and 4 TR’s visited Shuttleworth to see the largest gathering of De Havilland DH60 Moths, in one place for many years. It is hard to believe that so many original aircraft are still flying despite approaching 100 years of age. The first DH60 flew in February 1925 and were the planes that really kick started private flying in this Country and across the globe. People will probably know it’s latter cousin The DH82 Tiger Moth better, but without the DH60 later DH aircraft could well have looked very different.
The DH Moth Club held a gathering over 2 days and although day one was dry, it was unfortunately rather wet on the day of our visit. It only marginally dampened our day as the sights and sounds of these iconic aircraft really transported us back to earlier days and the slower pace of life in the 1920’s & 30’s.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to post photos that do justice to the aircraft, venue or the day, but those that attended, agreed it was a wonderful day out and something unlikely to be repeated soon, if ever.
