LVG @ Fawley Hill

LVG we’re delighted to accept an invitation from the local TSSC group to join them on a visit to Fawley Hill Museum. Fawley is a unique private railway in the grounds of Sir William McAlpine’s home and although Sir William passed away a few years ago, volunteers continue to run the venue in his memory. Not only is it a fully operational steam railway, but also a museum with many artefacts that have been collected over many years. It is a most interesting venue which is not open to the public, but groups can get an invitation to attend one of a few open days each year. Model rail clubs use the site to build and operate rail layouts and on open days operate their models, which further enhances the visitor experience. Train rides also operate, giving visitors a fully immersive experience on the day.

Being in our classic cars gave us access to park in among the exhibits in front of the rail sheds and when we were there a group from The Old Lawnmower Club were displaying their lawn mowers and sitting behind them (not unlike classic car owners at a local show 😁).
