Traces & Lost Registration Numbers

Traces

Available for TR2/3/3A only via Mike Ellis, Daintree, Fullers Road, Rowledge, Farnham, Surrey, GU10 4LB or email: tr2-3registrar@tr-register.co.uk.  Cost is £25 (£27 if posting outside of the UK) payable by bank transfer or PayPal.

In all cases, Mike will need a note of your car's commission (TS) number and registration number if a UK car. Approximately four weeks later, he will post you a typed 'birth certificate' of the car's original build specification, build date and (usually) the delivery destination. These traces are around half the cost of the British Motor Museum Heritage Certificates and include much the same information. If required, they can be produced in a DVLA friendly format to assist with registration applications. Normally TR2/3/3As can only be traced by the commission number; however, it may be possible to trace the car using the six or seven figure body number. More work is involved and the cost may therefore be higher. TR3Bs can only be traced by the British Motor Museum, as below.

TR3B/4/4A/5/250/6/7/8 owners can get a heritage certificate for their vehicle via: The Archive Department, British Motor Museum, Banbury Road, Gaydon, Warwick, CV35 OBJ, or online at: https://wvvvv.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/archive/heritage-certificates

Registration Issues & Applications

The DVLA is becoming more reliant on proof from car clubs before issuing registrations on either the lost V765 or new V5/55 application systems. The Club now has a dedicated department for handling these applications, so for advice or an application, please contact: v765@tr-register.co.uk. For all applications, the charges below will apply.

The price for an application is £30 for members and £100 for non-members, payable to the TR Register.

Should the inspector be required to travel to view the vehicle, the travel expenses will be charged at 40p per mile. All fees are payable prior to the inspection being carried out.

The TR Register reminds all applicants that there is no guarantee of success.
